The Swarte Haen.

Converted into a luxury botter - originally Volendam's Kwak, one of the most famous vessels of the Zuiderzee fishery that was suitable for fishing in the North Sea, this very spacious and extremely fast sailing fishing vessel is 16 meters long, 5 meters wide and 1 meter 30 deep. The Kwak is a flat-bottomed vessel, known for its substantial flowing lines, giving it excellent seaworthiness and superb sailing characteristics. The foreship is round, wide and rising high, while the stern is low and open. At the time of fishing, the nets were hauled in at the stern of the ship. The Swarte Haen was built around 1907 at Hakvoort Monnickendam by order of the first owner, who was known in Volendam as "Keesje van kleine Evert."

The rigging of the ship consists of a mainsail, jib and half-wind, together accounting for a sail area of no less than 230 m2. Furthermore, the ship is equipped with 2 engines of 100 hp each. With the jib, jib and mainsail, sailing with this ship is a true nautical adventure. The round shapes and full head, the low round stern and the oval shape of the waterline ensure that it is not only a beautiful sight, but also gives you a perfect feeling.

The ship was set in steel in 1980. The plane is on average 9 mm thick. Complete refit in 2023. Underwater ship painted and new anti fouling, new anodes, new mast, new jib boom, new batteries, upholstery and mattresses, etc.
