Built by J. Kok in Huizen. Construction number ship HZ35
Waterkampioen March 1950 nr 867:
Then owner J.D. Waller writes:
The "Houtrib" is a botter converted to a yacht, built in 1914 by Kok in Huizen. It is a typical botter of the Zuidwal, long 13.60 meters over the stem. I bought it in November 1948 from the Jeltes brothers in Enkhuizen, where it belonged at that time and carried the letters EH18.
The only drawing, which Kok ever had, is a sketch, in which I tried to indicate my wishes.
My intention was to arrange the ship in such a way that:
it would be suitable to sail with my sons or guests as crew.
there would be a place in every cabin where there would be standing room;
one could sit upright on each berth;
there would be enough storage space in each cabin to avoid bringing suitcases on board;
there would be a possibility of a shower facility;
The beautiful lines of the fishing boat would be preserved;
those on board could enjoy reasonable comfort and freedom without falling into expensive luxury;
The Zeeland waters would be accessible in one day, even under unfavorable weather conditions;
sufficient seaworthiness would be obtained to get offshore in summer.
