Overnaadse Klassieker, Windjammer, Javaans Teak
Classic clinker-built Windjammer with character and history. Built of Javanese teak. Robust and elegant, maintained with passion and care down to the last detail.
This classic clinker-built Windjammer was designed and built in 1952 by A. C. Krijgsman in Surabaya, Indonesia. A unique ship design that shows similarities with the Jupiter design by Kroes Bootbouwers in Kampen. Built of Javanese teak, a practically indestructible wood. The purpose of the ship was originally recreational. Because of the unsettled circumstances for the Dutch in Indonesia at that time, the option to flee to Australia with the ship was taken into account during construction. With this in mind the ship was built extra solid, which is still beneficial to the ship today.
The Windjammer was transported to the Netherlands in 1955 on a cargo ship, to a colleague-friend of the designer and builder of the ship. Since 1955 the ship is in the hands of the same family. For detailed information about the rich history of this ship you can use the attached link.
